At least P1.78 million worth of illegal drugs were seized by authorities at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) said Tuesday.

One parcel, which was declared to contain amino supplements, yielded 960 pieces of ecstasy with assessed value of P1,440,000.

The BOC said the parcel originated from Germany and consigned to a Cavite-based recipient.

Authorities also found drugs concealed in a bicycle and leather shoes at the airport.

Found hidden in the bicycle was 53 grams of shabu with a street value of P265,000. The bicycle was from a sender in Quezon City and was bound for Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, buried in a pair of leather shoes bound for Europe was 16 grams shabu with a value of P80,000 bound for Europe.

“We have recommended the immediate issuance of a Summary Decision of Forfeiture against the shipments," said BOC Deputy Commissioner Ariel  Nepomuceno.

Charges are being prepared against the senders and consignees of the seized shipments. —Virgil Lopez/ALG, GMA News
